Their theme “Hardy plants for northern gardens” used plants grown at the nursery. The tough, hardy specimens included astilbe, crocosmia and achillea, and more unusual varieties of phlox, leucanthemum and monarda.

The RHS expert panel assessing the show entry commended the display’s high quality plants and use of colour.

The couple paid tribute to their team at the nursery, saying: “It takes a whole year to prepare for the show and a lot of effort and hard work goes into striving for perfection, but it certainly all pays off when we can walk away with a gold.

“The win isn’t just down to us though, we have a fantastic team behind us who have all worked hard and even now we are starting to pot and prepare plants ready for next year”.
