Number of unemployed people in Pendle drops

The number of unemployed claimants in Pendle in April was 1,933, according to the latest figures.

This represents a rate of 4.8% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64. The number of claimants is 47 lower than in April, 2010.

Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “I welcome this week’s good news on unemployment. Unemployment remains a significant problem and I am pressing the Government to do more to help.”
