New sports village proving to be a big hit
The Prairie Sports Village opened on Monday and has already been a big hit with people across Burnley and the surrounding area.
The £2.5m. centre, owned by Burnley Council and operated by Burnley Leisure, includes a 16-bay golf driving range, golf pro shop, multi-use activity studio and the golf and football academy complex, boasting a number of conference and meeting rooms with Sky TV and free Wi-Fi.

Hide AdA purpose built full teaching facility is equipped with golf simulator and GC2 launch monitor, which allows players to track their results and enhance their performance.
PGA golf professional James Major will be operating a coaching programme from the site. He said: “It’s a fantastic facility. This technology is the same technology that is used by the world’s best golfers and top coaches.
“We’re here to help serious golfers and anybody who is looking to take up the sport, young or old.”
Outside facilities include the FA approved 3G floodlit pitch and new changing rooms.

Hide AdVisitors will also be able to enjoy a selection of mouth-watering dishes from the Simply Classic Bistro and Bar, which is open weekdays 11-30am – 3pm and Saturdays 8-30am – 3pm.
Neil Hutchinson, head of operations at Burnley Leisure, said: “It is extremely exciting to have the building up and running. The response from everyone who has visited so far has been fantastic.
“It is a facility that will attract people from across the North-West and one we are extremley proud of.”
