New buses in £3m. Witch Way investment

There’s a new witch in town – and she’s flying between Nelson, Burnley and Manchester on a Witch Way X43 bus!

Burnley and Pendle’s principal public transport operator Transdev has launched a new fleet of buses on the X43 route connecting Nelson, Burnley, Rawtenstall, Prestwich and Manchester city centre up to every 15 minutes.

The improved fleet represents a £3million investment in the Witch Way route.

The new Volvo Wright buses are replacing vehicles that are eight years old, bringing real benefits to Transdev customers.

The 15 state of the art vehicles provide an outstanding level of bus travel. Comfortable leather seating, ample leg room, tinted windows and CCTV cameras throughout mean passengers can travel in both comfort and security, plus the free WiFi means passengers can stay online while they’re onboard.

And on the buses’ livery the traditional image of a witch has been replaced with a striking new icon – Transdev’s own “good witch”.

With blonde hair, red shoes and lipstick, and a shorter dress than before, she’s sure to cast a spell on anyone who sees her.

Nigel Eggleton, Transdev’s Director of Sales & Marketing, said: “We felt that the time was right to rebrand our Witch Way service.

“We were keen to maintain the connection to local heritage through the story of the Pendle witches but as we upgraded our buses, we wanted to give our witch a modern makeover too.

“Our Witch Way buses now have a fresh, prominent brand. She might cause a bit of a stir, but she’s our ‘good witch’ and we think she brings a touch of magic to our X43 fleet.”

The stylish icon was officially unveiled at a special VIP launch at Nelson and Colne College – against the backdrop of Pendle Hill – on Thursday – Halloween.

Transdev executives, suppliers, partners and local dignitaries then enjoyed the very best of bus travel as they were taken on a tour to Pendle Hill with Simon Entwistle as their guide.
