New Burnley Bridge lowered into place

The Burnley Bridge Business Park, which is expected to bring up to 1,500 new jobs to the borough, moved a step closure to completion.

The first piece of the bridge over the Leeds-Liverpool was secured in place which will open up the gateway to the 70-acre development site at Junction 9 of the M65 motorway.

A huge 1,000-ton crane lifted the first of 12 concrete beams into place at the former Hepworth’s site in Hapton.

Work on the long-awaited canal bridge began after £3.85m funding was secured from the European Regional Development Fund.

Developers Eshton hope the first businesses could move in to new and refurbished industrial units as early as Spring 2014.
