Nelson's Lidl store set to undergo regeration

The retail establishment will build a sustainable 1424m² store on the 6774m² site with the aim of creating up to 20 new jobs, with a consulation process open to the public set to take place on Thursday, October 6th.

The public are invited to attend the event, which will take place at between 1pm and 6pm at Lidl’s current store in Nelson. In addition, Lidl’s dedicated property team will be on hand to outline the supermarket’s plans for a new store and answer any questions from the local community.

The new store will boast brand new facilities, including an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing facilities, customer toilets, and ample parking space.

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Nick Harvey, said: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening a more modern and updated Lidl in Nelson and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce which shoppers across the country have come to love.”

The planned changes will add to Lidl’s portfolio of 630 stores, and will form part of the company’s growth plans which hope to see this increase to 1,500 stores in the future.

Voted ‘Best Supermarket, 2016’ by readers of Good Housekeeping, the chain has experienced continued growth over recent years, as consumers flock to the shop to discover a comprehensive range of quality products.
