Nelson sex pervert banned from meeting fellow paedophile in public

A PERVERT has been banned from associating with a fellow convicted paedophile in public.

Colin Barlow (49), of Rhoda Street, Nelson, who is already subject to a lifelong sexual offences prevention order, is also not allowed to go on holiday with the man without the permission of the Public Protection Unit.

Barlow was originally given a SOPO in 2007, when he was prohibited from having unsupervised contact with girls under 18, from using computers and was told he must not work with children. At Burnley Crown Court, Recorder Alan Conrad varied the order to include the two new conditions.

Barlow was put on the sex offenders’ register in 2003 when, at Leicester Crown Court, he was jailed for seven years for a catalogue of child sex offences. He had been convicted of 14 offences - attempted rape, gross indecency, indecent assault and child porn.

In July, 2007, at Burnley Crown Court, Barlow was locked up for six months and given the SOPO after being convicted of two allegations of making an indecent photo of a child.

In January last year, Barlow was sent to prison for two years after the court had been told he had flouted the sex offenders’ register and downloaded child porn from the internet Barlow had gone to Ireland the day after police searched his home in Rhoda Street, Nelson, in July, 2009. He had been extradited back to England and was arrested on August 5th of that year.

The January hearing had been told how Barlow had an explicit video of a girl aged about eight, bound and hooded, as she was being abused. He had also had two obscene video clips on his mobile phone.

Barlow, who had admitted two counts of not complying with the register and possessing and making indecent photos of children, was given a SOPO.
