Nelson murder victim’s family speak out after guilty verdict

After the 34-year-old was found guilty by a jury at Preston Crown Court today her family said: “Debra was taken from us in the most brutal and horrific way and this is something none of us will ever overcome.

“Some slight relief has come today with Carl Field being found guilty of Debra’s murder and receiving a life sentence, of which he will have to serve a minimum of 19 years. But ultimately we cannot be joyous; this will never bring Debra back.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr Flewitt, QC, and Miss Sarah Statham who prosecuted this case, DCI Neil Howarth and the team of detectives who worked on this case and in particular to our Family Liaison Officers DC Karen Edwards and DC Julie Leigh. We cannot thank them enough and we are extremely grateful.”
