Nelson firm doubles workforce of 85

A PENDLE-BASED marketing services provider - Intalekt Marketing Services - is set to double its workforce after relocating to a larger site.

The move was facilitated by a European Investment Bank loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial.

Established in 2001 by managing director David Holt, Intalekt provides a one-stop customer contact service across a range of sectors, including call centre facilities, fulfilment, plastic card embossing and contract packing.

The business previously operated from two sites in Nelson and Barrowford, but when the opportunity arose to buy a large site on Hodge Bank Industrial Park, Nelson, this year, David approached his banking partner, Lloyds TSB Commercial, which provided the funding to secure the deal.

Already a large employer, the relocation of the company not only means the business can operate more efficiently from one base, but has now also created the flexibility and capacity to double its current workforce of 85.

With increased office and warehouse space, Intalekt is launching a new online training business which will operate from the new site. As a result of these developments, the firm is aiming for 25% turn-over growth by 2012.

David said: “We offer a variety of marketing services to a diverse range of clients based in the UK, France, Italy and even Australia.

“We have recently expanded our fulfilment operation to include ticketing services for major international events and festivals such as the recent Bon Jovi tour, which was a major project for us.

“It is essential we have sufficient office space and storage facilities to meet the requirements of our clients in the North-West and further afield.

“Although we were keen to relocate the business due to our plans for expansion, I wanted to uphold the company’s reputation as a large local employer and so by purchasing the premises in Nelson we were able to grow the business physically, as well as remain within Lancashire.

“The loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial was a critical part our move and subsequent expansion. The relocation has put the company in great stead for future growth.”

Debbie Worthington, business development manager for Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “Employing local people can have substantial benefits for your company by helping integrate a business into the community and improve a firm’s local reputation. By relocating but remaining within the area, it is clear that David has thought carefully about the social impact of his business.

“The larger premises will provide the opportunity for Intalekt to develop further as a ‘one-stop-shop’, giving clients instant access to experts in a variety of marketing services.

“At Lloyds TSB Commercial we offer alternative funding solutions as well as the more traditional bank loans. David was eligible for funding through the EIB scheme, which allows firms to secure standard fixed or base rate loans with a 0.8% interest rate discount.”
