Staff and students at Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form are celebrating as 2012 proves to be another outstanding year, with an A Level pass rate of 100%

This year, 86.1% of its A Level students have achieved high grades A*-C, and 60.2% have achieved top grades A*-B.

The excellent achievement builds on the college’s on-going success, as the sixth highest performing college in the country, and the first in East Lancashire based on overall student success.

Other outstanding statistics achieved this year, include 135 students gaining the coveted A*/A grades and 72 students have achieved the staggering accomplishment of two or more A*/A grades!

College principal Amanda Melton is delighted with the outstanding results and said: “I am thrilled for all our students who have worked extremely hard this year and are fully deserving of their excellent success.

“Special thanks must be given to the college’s excellent team of staff for their continued commitment to brilliant teaching. Our students consistently feedback to us how their teachers’ continuous support is a major factor in their success. Nelson and Colne has a proud tradition of academic excellence and I am delighted to see we will continue to serve the educational needs of the community with such great success. It is an exciting time for our students as they now move into university or employment, but I know they will do so with great skills and increased confidence. They are a credit to East Lancashire.”
