The Asda Foundation Pennine Lancashire 10K, which since its launch in 2013 has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities, is changing its name to the Asda Foundation Burnley 10K.

Although the race has been held in the town since its launch, it has been known as the Pennine Lancashire 10K as organisers – Run For All – had originally intended to take the event to different locations in Lancashire.

But such has been Burnley’s strength of support for the event, it has been decided it should remain in the town and be held under the Burnley 10K banner.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Course Director, said: “Although we had planned to move the event around Lancashire, we feel it has truly found its natural home in Burnley.

“The support shown for the run by people in the town, businesses and the council has been tremendous.

“Burnley and its parks provide an excellent route for the entrants and we are very much looking forward to next year’s race.”

Coun. Bea Foster, Burnley Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, said: “Every year the 10K run brings thousands of running enthusiasts and spectators together from across the wide area to support good causes and we’re delighted to be hosting many more Burnley 10K events in the future.

“This event really puts Burnley on the map for runner of all ages and abilities and we hope it continues to go from strength to strength.”

The 2016 Burnley 10K will take place on Sunday, June 5th. The race forms part of the hugely popular Asda Foundation 10K Series, which also includes runs in Leeds, York, Hull, Lincoln and Nottingham.
