Murder accused pair appear in court

TWO people accused of the murder of a Colne man have appeared in court in Burnley.

Donna Harrison (34) of Beech Street, Padiham, and Wayne Mackie (40) of no fixed abode, previously of Basil Street, Colne, have been charged with the murder of Steven Sheppard.

Mr Sheppard’s body was found at a house in Portland Street, Colne, on Monday, October 10th. A post-mortem examination revealed the 47-year-old had died as a result of multiple head and chest injuries.

The defendants spoke only to confirm their names and addresses when they appeared briefly at Burnley Magistrates’ Court today (Friday). Magistrates remanded them in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, the family of Mr Sheppard issued the following statement.

“Steven was a very sociable and loveable person by all who knew him. He enjoyed driving and particularly enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Steven was a loving father, son and brother. We will miss Steven dearly. From mum Dorothy, son Mash and all his family and friends.”
