“Mr Burnley Light Opera” Colin Sanderson is recovering in hospital after a fall at his home.

Mr Sanderson, the chairman and driving force behind the society, known as BLOS, fell two weeks ago after returning home from rehearsals.

He suffered a broken vertebrae in his neck but did not realise the significance of his injury until the following morning.

This week he was still in Blackburn Royal Hospital although has been moved from critical care.

The society is currently preparing for its next show, “Guys And Dolls”, to be presented at Burnley Mechanics next month and society member Peter Woodhead said: “The show is going on and although Colin was heavily involved, especially in running the Sunday dinner show, people are picking up his jobs and keeping things moving.

“ We are all thinking about him and wish him well.”
