Mounted police headed off Burnley FC ‘Suicide Squad’ attack on Blackburn pub

A HEARING at Preston Crown Court has resumed today, with Burnley Suicide Squad members due to be sentenced for their part in derby day disturbances more than 15 months ago.

Fourteen men were convicted or pleaded guilty to planning to attack a pub full of Blackburn Rovers fans following the Claret’s 3-2 Premier League defeat against their local rivals on October 18th, 2009.

The court was told the mob charged towards the Station Pub, in Cherry Tree, chanting “Su-, Su-, Suicide” before mounted police headed them off.
