Motorway fully reopened after bridge ‘fall’

The M65 has now fully reopened after a woman “fell” from the bridge near to Nelson and Colne College this morning.

The motorway was closed in both directions between Junction 13 and Junction 14, while officers carried out an investigation. It had initially been reported as a “police incident”.

The eastbound carriageway reopened shortly after 9am, with drivers sharing their experiences of the motorway chaos over Twitter.

One user wrote: “M65 closed in both directions between Nelson and Colne, is making for a very busy rush hour. #TafficChaos [sic]”

And another user said: “Huge traffic jam at the Nelson end of the M65. #traffictweet!”
