A homeless man from Pendle who was reported missing after the tent he lived in by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal collapsed in the high winds at the end of last week has been found safe and well.

Police had appealed for information about the whereabouts of James Mitchell, 59, from Colne, this week after he had not been seen since Thursday of last week following the collapse of his tent at Barrowford Locks.

But a spokesman confirmed today that Mr Mitchell had been found by police in Burnley on Tuesday.
