Midwife’s book is on ‘best-seller’ list

HEARTWARMING, fascinating and extraordinary are just three of the words used to describe local midwife Sheena Byrom’s book, “Catching Babies” and now it seems book-lovers across the country are inclined to agree, with sales of Sheena’s book placing it at number five in the national Sunday Times best-sellers’ list.

The moving account of an extraordinary career reveals the unique experiences that filled Sheena’s days as she looked after overwhelmed new parents and helped bring their precious babies into the world.

Speaking after the official launch of the book at Browsholme Hall, Sheena said: “I am just totally overwhelmed by the amazing response to what is essentially a little story about my working life. I wrote the book as I wanted to record my experiences for my family and to leave something behind for them after I’ve gone. I never dreamt it would make the Sunday Times best seller list and I’m still in utter disbelief it has!”

Sheena is making the most of her time in the literary spotlight and said the best part of it is the comments and feedback she’s received following the publication of the book: “It has been a wonderful and extraordinary experience and every day, something else wonderful happens. I have been in contact with people from all over the world as well friends and colleagues from my training days and throughout my career. My family and I are just delighted with the amazing response and we’re enjoying every second of it.”
