Mayor-elect’s hopes for Burnley

BURNLEY’S next Mayor has spoken of his hopes for the future and his pride at being chosen to take the chain of office.

Coun. David Heginbotham (71) will take over the role as Burnley’s first citizen from current Mayor Coun. Tony Lambert next month.

The businessman, who has been self-employed since he was 19, was first elected to Burnley Borough Council in 1991. He is a Conservative ward councillor for Cliviger with Worsthorne and Hurstwood and has served on both Cliviger and Worsthorne parish councils. His wife of 38 years Mrs Joan Heginbotham (70) will be his Mayoress.
