Hundreds of families descended on Towneley Park for the annual May Day festival.

Blue skies drew the crowds as young and old enjoyed fairground rides, stalls, dog agility shows, refreshments and much more.

A parade through the streets of Burnley, led by the Clarion Choir, kicked off the festivities as Labour members joined anti-fracking campaigners and others boasting banners and placards.

The Red Rose Band joined the parade as it moved up Towneley Holmes towards the stage where Labour’s Parliamentary candidate Julie Cooper addressed onlookers.
