Market traders raise cash for Pendleside Hospice at ruby wedding celebration

A KIND-HEARTED couple celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary have raised £1,080 for Pendleside Hospice.

Jack and Kathryn Simpson, of Fence, marked 40 years together with a Ceilidh alongside 150 friends and family.

The pair, who owned deli stalls in Burnley, Nelson and Blackburn markets before retiring, asked for donations in lieu of presents.

Guests enjoyed dancing and a pie and pea supper at Walter Street Club, Brierfield. Raffle tickets were sold by the couple’s granddaughters to win prizes donated by Pendleside Hospice, John Dinsdale Estate Agents and Jeff Mellin’s Butchers.

Kath said: “It was a brilliant night and it was lovely to catch up with family and friends who we don’t see very often. Myself and Jack would like to thank everybody for attending, their donations and support”.
