A GIRL of 17 fled distraught after a midnight incident involving a car driver wearing little more than stockings and suspenders.

The girl was walking along Whalley Road, Billington, on Friday night when the car pulled up and the driver asked for directions.

As the girl started giving them, the man exposed himself and she realised that he was wearing womens clothing, plus a T-shirt and baseball cap.

The girl ran off and the man drove away. Police started immediate inquiries and ask anyone involved in a similar incident who has not already reported it to do so now.

l A man of 42 appeared before magistrates in Lancaster on Monday and pleaded guilty to two offences of indecent exposure and one of using abusive behaviour.

He asked for four similar offences to be taken into account. None of the incidents involved the Ribble Valley.

The man was said to have driven up to two girls aged 11 in Lancaster on Saturday and asked for directions. He was arrested after they complained about him and gave the police his car number.

Police found that the man had stockings in his car and he was wearing a suspender belt.

He told officers he would have continued to commit offences if he was not caught and felt he needed help.

The man, from Rochdale, was remanded in custody for a pre-sentence report.
