Man taken to hospital after crash

A MAN was seriously injured and a second man is being hunted after a stolen car dramatically crashed at high speed this morning.

Police were called to Gannow Lane at 5-50 a.m. to find a Land-Rover Discovery overturned and a 19-year-old man suffering from head and suspected internal injuries. He was rushed to hospital. Officers said he had been dragged from the vehicle by a second man, thought to be in his late teens, who fled before police arrived.The gold Land-Rover had been travelling at high speed when the driver lost control. It is not known whether another vehicle was involved or who was driving the Land-Rover.The road was closed for five hours while police investigated.

Sgt Dave Hogarth, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would urge anybody that witnessed this incident or saw a man running away from the scene to contact police. It is possible that this man could also have sustained injuries in the collision that will require treatment.

“I would also be keen to speak with anyone that saw the gold Land Rover Discovery driving around the area prior to the collision to contact us.”
