Man rescued from roof of Waggoner’s

A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out at a Burnley restaurant.

The incident occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day after a tumble dryer caught fire at the New Waggoner’s Restaurant in Manchester Road.

The man, believed to be an employee, was rescued by firefighters from the roof of the building shortly after 3am.

Thankfully, there was only smoke damage to the first floor of the building.
