Man hit by three cars on M65

A MAN has suffered serious multiple injuries after being hit by three cars while walking on the M65 motorway.

Police are still investigating how the 60 year-old man from the Accrington area came to be out of his car when the accident happened between junction seven and junction eight at Huncoat/Hapton at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

A police spokesman said: “We received a call at 7 a.m. saying a pedestrian had been hit by three vehicles.

“It appears the man was first truck by a Transit van and a Peugeot before staggering into the path of a Vauxhall Corsa. All had swerved to avoid him. We are still investigating how this man came to be walking on the motorway.”

The man is currently in Royal Blackburn Hospital with multiple injuries. Anyone with information should call police on 0845 1 253545.
