A MAN has died and another has been seriously injured after the car they were travelling in crashed in Burnley last night.

The Fiat, carrying the two men, in their late 20s, was travelling along Eastern Avenue towards Burnley town centre when it struck a post around 10-30 p.m.

Paramedics, police and firefighters raced to the scene and fire crews had to cut the passenger out of the car but he was dead on arrival at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The driver of the car also had to be cut out and was taken to Royal Blackburn suffering from head injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and no other vehicles were involved.
