Man caught with drugs at Ribble Valley Beat Herder festival jailed

A man has been sent to prison after admitting supplying class A drugs at the Beat Herder festival in the Ribble Valley in July.

Peter Smith (31) of Hargreaves Road, Oswaldtwistle, was stopped and arrested as he tried to enter the main arena at the music festival in Sawley on Sunday, July 19th.

He was subsequently found to be in possession of 44 deal size bags of both cocaine and ecstasy.

He was convicted of supplying class A drugs and jailed for 27 months after pleading guilty to the charge at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday.

Speaking after the case Sgt Dave Simpson of Clitheroe Police said that perpertrators of this kind would be rigourously pursued.

He said: “We also want people to realise that taking substances of this kind can lead to tragic consequences and near misses.’’
