Man arrested after woman threatened with knife at Burnley petrol station

Detectives investigating an incident where a woman was threatened with a knife at a petrol station in Burnley have arrested a man.

A 56-year-old man from Blackburn was last night arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is currently in custody.

An investigation was launched after the incident which happened at around 6pm on Wednesday, February 10th, when the victim, a 22-year-old woman, was filling up her car at Tesco petrol station in Centenary Way.

She went to pay at the cashier before walking back to her car. As she got in the driver’s door a man, who was in possession of a knife, got into the passenger seat and told her to drive. The victim screamed, got out of the car and ran to the cashier. The man then left the vehicle and made off on foot along Centenary Way.
