Man arrested after car crashes into Burnley house

Emergency services including police and fire were called to reports of a collision involving a BMW and a taxi.

Police said following the collision in Accrington Road at 9-10pm yesterday (Saturday), the BMW crashed into the side of a house. The taxi driver had to be cut free by fire crews and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital, but has since been discharged.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire engines from Blackburn and Nelson were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Accrington Road, Burnley. "Firefighters used cutting equipment to release one person from one of the vehicles involved."

The road between Griffin and Florence Street was closed by police from around 9-45pm.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called out at 9-10pm yesterday evening after reports a BMW was in collision with a taxi. The BMW then went into the side of a house. The taxi driver was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening and we believe he has since been discharged from hospital.

"The occupants of the house sustained no injuries. Fortunately. no one was seriously injured. One man has been arrested."
