Asif Manzur, a 35-year-old local man, will appear before Burnley Magistrates’ Court on March 3rd to face allegations that he conspired to defraud the Returning Officer of Burnley Council in connection with the May 2010 local elections in the Daneshouse with Stoneyholme Ward of Burnley.

A spokesman for returning officer Mr Steve Rumbelow said: “We are keen to ensure the public continue to have confidence in the electoral system locally. My staff have been working closely with the police throughout their investigation and will continue to do so as the case proceeds through the courts.”
