Man (50) stabs himself in front of Burnley shoppers

A 50-year-old man who cut himself with a blade in Burnley town centre in front of shoppers had to be rushed to hospital.

The man is said to have used a razor to slash his left arm, leg and stomach along Burnley’s busy high street.

Horrified shoppers witnessed the incident which took place near the Dorothy Perkins store in St James’s Street at 10-30am on Wednesday.

Paramedics were called in and the man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
