Man (21) seriously hurt in Burnley town centre attack

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Burnley town centre are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened around 3-25am on Friday, July 10th, outside Pharaoh’s bar in Hargreaves Street. It is thought a row had taken place following which a 21-year-old local man was hit once to the face.

The victim suffered serious injuries and remains in Royal Preston Hospital receiving treatment.

A 27-year-old man from Burnley was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and has been released on police bail until August 24th while further inquiries are conducted.

DC Sean Hanna from Burnley CID said: “We are on with our inquiries including looking through CCTV in the area and are trying to trace anyone that may have witnessed the assault and any altercations that took place before or after.
