Make worst waste offenders live on a landfill site!
Coun. Brian Parker, who represents Marsden ward, said Nelson has a significant problem with rubbish accumulation in some back yards and that there are a small number of tenants and landlords who don’t care what effect this has on neighbouring residents.
In his 10 years as an elected representative, Coun. Parker says he asked Pendle Council to issues a “significant number” of Section 215 notices, legislation which the council can use to order homeowners to tidy up their back yard or face a hefty fine.

Coun. Parker said: “Most residents in this ward do their bit to keep the area clean, but we do have some persistent and repeat offenders.
“Some of the worst of which are on Leeds Road, so I recently asked Paul Lloyd the Housing Programmes Manager to join me on a site visit to these and another one on Townhouse Road.
“Hopefully working with the council’s solicitors and waste services department Paul can put a stop to this small area being a constant eyesore.

“If I had my way the worst offenders would only be allowed to live in a tent on a remote landfill site.”
