Made in Edinburgh, but born in Burnley

Burnley's Byteback Theatre are hoping to raise £1,000 through their Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in order to take their new show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.

With a cast of 14, Byteback Theatre is a group of talented and enthusiastic young people from Burnley Youth Theatre who want to become the next generation of theatre makers.

The critically-acclaimed Byteback Theatre plan to return to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for their fifth consecutive year to premiere their new production The Curious Sole of Luna Cobbler.

To do this however, they first need to raise £7,000.

To help them reach this target the cast has been ‘working their socks off’ in efforts to raise money to help pay for the trip.

They have held bake sales, car washes, 5K runs, sponsored cycles, and all sorts of other mad stuff – a couple of them even walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks- 24 miles in one day!

Now they have set up a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign with the hopes of raising £1,000 through it by Sunday, July 24th.

Director Kat Osborn said: “Performing at the Edinburgh Fringe is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and a lifelong dream for the cast involved. Burnley Youth Theatre is also hugely proud to be able to support local young people and offer this life-changing opportunity to them, however we cannot do it without the support of the local community as funding a show at the Edinburgh Fringe is hugely expensive.

“We know that with the support of the community that Byteback will be able to return to the Fringe for their fifth year and that this performance will be their best yet!

“Devised by a diverse and talented cast of 14 young emerging actors from Burnley, Byteback’s latest production ‘The Curious Sole of Luna Cobbler’ is a quirky piece of visual theatre inspired by Tim Burton’s poetry (and shoes!)

“I’m excited to be working once again with the young people involved in Byteback Theatre. Their creativity and passion is inspiring, they are a joy to work with. ‘The Curious Sole of Luna Cobbler’ reflects their quirky unique style and personalities.

“They are working hard to create a high quality, heart warming performance and are proud to be representing Burnley in Edinburgh.” To donate to Byteback Theatre’s crowd funding campaign and help them to get to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, visit www.kickstarter.com/projects/2135973110/born-in-burnley-made-in-edinburgh-0
