Stephen Willoughby and Melanie Lord met by chance on the popular Pendle Pub Walk on June 6th, 2010, and will tie the knot on June 8th this year – the nearest Saturday to the date they first met.

There must be something about the month of June for the happy couple because daughter Isabelle was born on June 17th last year.

And in further recognition of their happy rendezvous, all the tables at their wedding reception will be named after the nine pubs featured on the walk, which raises money for Pendleside Hospice and is organised by the Rotary Club of Burnley Pendleside.

Export sales administrator Stephen said: “We plan to have photographs on the point in the walk where we first met when Melanie asked me for directions.

“I never expected to meet anyone when I went on the walk. I’m obviously delighted I did. We’ve now been blessed with Isabelle.”

Melanie, who works for the Blackburn Diocese, added: “I can remember Stephen joking that were no buses on a Sunday and we just got chatting from there. We’re very happy.”

This year’s Pendle Pub Walk takes place on Saturday, June 15th. For more information visit www.pendlepubwalk.co.uk.
