Little Jolie shows true spirit of Christmas

Jolie Forrest (7) made up 50 little festive parcels containing chocolates for people living at Woodside Home For the Elderly in Burnley Road.

She also sang Christmas songs as well as some favourites from the musical “Annie” during a two-hour visit, which was arranged by Jolie’s grandma Deborah Derbyshire who works at Woodside.

Her proud mum Jodie, who works at hair salon Vanilla in Padiham, said: “She was watching the John Lewis Christmas advert featuring the old man in the moon.

“She’s emotional anyway but she started crying and said she wanted to give some Christmas presents out to older people. My mum works at Woodside and Jolie has been going in since she was a baby so we made some little gifts with chocolates and she gave them out to all the residents who were there.

“She absolutely loves performing and she loves entertaining the old people.”

While she was there Jolie sang traditional carols “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night” as well as songs from “Annie” which she is currently rehearsing with her theatre group.

Padiham Green Primary School pupil Jolie, who has a little sister Trixie (18 months), shot to fame in February 2014 when she appeared in a national television advertising campaign for Three mobile along with a singing cat.

And she is not the first generation of her family to entertain residents at Woodside. Jodie and her brother Andrew Derbyshire, who has been a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent, the X Factor and is currently appearing in pantomime in London, also used to sing at the home at Christmas when they were children.
