Linda Nolan opens year of fund-raising at Stanley House, Mellor

STANLEY House Hotel will welcome one of the legendary Nolan sisters for its first Ladies who Lunch event of 2012.

Singer and actress Linda Nolan will join Lancashire’s Ladies who Lunch at the hotel on Thursday, to entertain guests with tales from her long and successful career, starting with The Nolans and moving on to solo projects including TV and leading roles in the West End.

More than 200 guests will dine on a spring-inspired two-course menu devised by executive head chef Steve Williams.

The event marks the first of four ladies-only lunchs to be hosted at Stanley House this year, held in aid of local children’s charity Miles of Smiles. Last year’s events saw appearances from broadcast legend Anne Diamond, TV chef and “Ladette to Lady” mentor Rosemary Shrager, and former MP and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Edwina Currie.

Stanley House’s sales and marketing manager, Wendy Hope, said: “Last year we raised over £5,000 for charity with our Ladies who Lunch programme. We’re hoping to surpass that this year, kicking off the 2012 proceedings with a real Lancashire legend.

“Our Ladies who Lunch events are renowned for their five-star celebrity hosts and Linda’s appearance is no exception, following the likes of Roger Black, Anton Du Beke, and opera star Lesley Garret.”

Linda Nolan added: “It’s always a pleasure to work in my home county and visit the beautiful Stanley House Hotel. I’m hoping I’ll get the ladies in the mood for raising funds for Miles of Smiles, while enjoying a lovely luncheon.”
