Light Up A Life switch-on at Pendleside Hospice

BURNLEY people wanting to remember loved ones who have died by dedicating a coloured light in their memory are invited to two services at Pendleside Hospice this weekend.

The hospice’s annual Light Up A Life campaign will launch with services at 3-30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fund-raising manager Mrs Kaye Bartle said: “Christmas can be difficult for those who have lost someone close, particularly if this is the first year without that special person. Light Up A Life is a chance to remember them in a positive way, as well as helping the hospice carry on its important work.”

The outdoor services will include an address by hospice spiritual care co-ordinator Mr Chris Cheeseman and hymns with music from Burnley Alliance Silver Band tomorrow and the Salvation Army Band on Sunday. They will also feature readings by hospice staff. Free mince pies and hot refreshments will be available.

Anyone who wants to fill in a Light Up A Life form can pick one up from the hospice shops, hospice reception or at the service on Sunday. Dedications can be made over the phone with a credit or debit card by calling 01282 440100 or at www.pendleside.org.uk.

Everyone remembering a loved one receives a voucher for a Light Up A Life pin badge or Christmas tree decoration and the names of everyone remembered are entered into a Book of Remembrance kept on display at the hospice.

There is no parking available within the hospice grounds.
