Jobs boost as call centre relocates from India to Simonstone

A FORMER Burnley College student has given the local jobs market a boost thanks to 5,000-mile relocation.

Mr Nigel Eastwood, who studied A-Levels in biology, chemistry and environmental studies, has relocated the customer service operations of New Call Telecom from New Delhi, India, to Simonstone.

New Call Telecom, the fastest growing home phone and broadband provider for its size in the UK, was formed 18 months ago after Mr Eastwood led a management buyout of Primus Telecom, where he was sales and marketing director.

He said: “New Call has bases in New Delhi, London, and Glasgow, but one of my key aims when I was involved in the management buyout was to grow the business in the North-West, hence the opening of our office in Simonstone.

“Moving our customer service operations from India to East Lancashire has provided an excellent opportunity to tap into the local workforce and help to put people on the career ladder. We have worked with Burnley College to create a training academy where staff can complete qualifications in customer service, and we are currently looking at how we can help the long-term unemployed get back into work with us.

“Both of these initiatives provide excellent opportunities for local people to gain employment with a fast growing and exciting business. We are looking forward to growing New Call in the North-West and showing people the fantastic career options available to them on their doorstep.”
