The father-of-four (52) hit a police panic button as the gang smashed through two double doors to get in.

Mr Ali, who has owned the shop since 1994, said: “It was terrifying. I cannot begin to describe it. I have never recovered from the last one. I could not believe it was happening to me again.”

He said the gang struck around 1-45 a.m. and believed they used a car to rip off the security shutters before searching the shop and leaving empty handed.

The jewellers was struck in February 19th last year by an armed gang – one of whom was dressed in a traditional Asian clothing including a burqa. A huge haul of traditional Asian jewellery was stolen in the raid and four men were later charged with the offence.
