Imogen takes next step towards fashion career

BARROWFORD could have the next Stella McCartney on its hands as a young talented designer prepares to take the fashion world by storm.

Imogen Whitehead has accepted a place at Westminster University where she will be joining an elite list of alumni including Vivienne Westwood and Christopher Bailey.

With strong ideas and a knowledge of what works on the catwalk, the Burnley College student will be enrolling onto a fashion buying degree course this September.

Already she has built up an impressive portfolio of collections and experience - with her designs being modeled at a fashion show at Queen Street Mill and in the college’s end-of-year show.

She has also attended Paris Fashion Week and worked alongside experts from John Lewis to produce a fashion show in Burnley town centre. Adding to this she has completed a two-week work placement with corporate wear specialists Simon Jersey.

Imogen said: “I set my heart on studying at Westminster University because of its reputation within the fashion industry.

“The practical experience I have gained studying and industry contacts I have made will be really useful both at university and when I hopefully progress to a career as an accessories buyer.”
