Ian is employee of the month at Trust

A special member of staff at Burnley General Hospital has been honoured by health bosses.

Building supervisor Ian Turner was chosen as July’s Employee of the Month at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust for his commitment to improving the care environment for patients and staff, while ensuring that disruption to patients is minimal during maintenance work.

Ian was nominated for the award by his manager Duncan Hodgkinson who said: “Ian is a highly respected member of the team.

He always puts patients first by ensuring that they are not inconvenienced when work is being carried out.

“He does this by scheduling maintenance at the most appropriate times, even if this is during evenings or weekends.

“Ian also takes the lead in driving forward the dementia works which includes colour schemes in redecoration programmes, signage and hand rails.”

Chief executive Kevin McGee presented Ian with his award in front of all his colleagues at the Burnley General Hospital site, congratulating him for his dedication.

Ian said: “I am delighted to have received the employee of the month award for doing what just comes naturally to me.

“Also, I couldn’t complete the projects I do without the support of the whole team so I would like to thank them for their continued dedication and hard work.”
