Hundreds turn out for Burnley 10k

Hundreds of runners took to the streets as the Asda Foundation Burnley 10k celebrated its fifth anniversary in style.

Starting and finishing in Towneley Park, spectators lined the course throughout the town, cheering on participants of all ages and abilities.

A minute's silence was held before the race to remember the victims of the Manchester and London terror attacks.

Organised by Run For All, runners were raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Pendleside Hospice, Burnley Leisure Trust, Every Action Has Consequences, Burnley FC in the Community and Cancer Assessment Rapid Early Support.

First past the line was Gethin Jones in a time of 33mins exactly. Rob Webb took second place while Danny Collinge was third.

The first woman home was Rachel Jacks in 40mins 46secs. Sarah Ridehaigh was second with April Thorpe finishing third.
