Hundreds pay their respects to much missed "Tev"

Hundreds of people turned out to pay their respects to a young dad who died at the age of 33.

At least 700 mourners gathered at Burnley Crematorium yesterday to pay their last respects to Mark Conway who was affectionately known as “Tev” because of his resemblance to the footballer Carlos Tevez.

Mark’s dad, Harry Conway, said: “We gave him the best send off that anyone could have.

“It was wonderful to see all those people who came along for Mark.

“He had so many friends and was so well known and loved.”

And Mark’s legacy will be a trust fund for his four-year-old daughter, Bella-Rose.

For a justgiving page set up by his friend Lee Harrison, to help Mark’s family with funeral costs, raised the magnfiicent sum of almost £3,000 in a week.

After the funeral costs are paid whatever is left will be put in trust for Bella-Rose who Mark doted on.

After the service everyone gathered at Ighten Leigh Social Club in Burnley for a celebration of Mark’s life which included a karaoke and disco to reflect his lively personality.

Mark grew up in Rosegrove and was a former pupil of Lowerhouse Primary and Gawthorpe High schools.

He did a series of jobs but most recently worked as a window cleaner all over the area including Hebden Bridge.

The life and soul of any party who was a real joker with a mischievous sense of humour, Mark loved music and was a self taught rapper who loved to entertain family and friends with his own raps.

Always the life and soul of the party, Mark was also a real home lover and always the first to organise family get togethers.

A talented golfer, Mark who had been living in Read, also played darts and pool.

As a boy he was scouted to play for Accrington Stanley and although he showed promise he never took to the game.

Social media was flooded with tributes for Mark who also leaves his mum, Carol, brother Craig, sister Becky, grandmother Ann, and nephew Leo.
