Hundreds of new jobs coming to Hapton and Colne

A number of companies are now moving into the Burnley Bridge Business Park at Hapton, while work on the new Boundary Mill Garden Centre in Colne is expected to create 300 new jobs.

Heather Murray, Jobcentre manager, said: “Burnley Bridge now includes Exertis, YESSS Electrical, Equinox Building Services Ltd, Townsend Music and Birchall Food Service.

“Advanced discussions are taking place for the occupancy of the final two units.

“Work on the new Boundary Mill Garden Centre, farm shop and café is due to commence in the next few months and will create up to 300 new jobs.

“Next month’s theme for March in Jobcentres is the construction sector, and we are working with partners and employers to host a range of group sessions to promote job opportunities available.”

In Burnley, 1,720 people claimed Universal Credit in January – an increase of 230 people or 15% from January 2015, although the figure has decreased by 875 (34%) since January 2010.
