How should those convicted of playing a part in the riots be dealt with?

As the shock of the riots that swept England dies down - the question of how those caught up in the riots should be dealt with by the courts has been highlighted.

Some applaud the tough line taken by the courts in sentencing rioters; others favour the idea of criminals being made to clean up the area they destroyed wearing high-viz clothing and others, including the Prince of Wales, want to see help and advice offered to those taking part, to point out the error of their ways and offer a long-term solution.
