Hotel owners take TV’s ‘Four In A Bed’ title

Janet Sutton and Margaret Lofthouse, who own The Avenue, in Brockhall Village, battled it out against B&B owners from Cumbria and Cornwall to scoop the coveted title.
Janet, a former pupil of Walshaw High School, said the show was not without confrontation but said she was delighted with the result.

Their episode showed guests staying overnight in a room at The Avenue, taking part in an activity at Outdoor Elements in Simonstone and having an evening meal and breakfast. Guests then rated the service and paid however much they thought the overnight stay was worth.
The Avenue was rated as the best value for money.
Janet said: “The producers contacted us and I thought it would be a superb opportunity to promote the business.
“We filmed it at the beginning of September and it was very hard work because you’ve got cameras on you all the time.
“It was gruelling but really enjoyable. It got a bit heated towards the end of the week and there was some confrontation but we were absolutely thrilled to win.
