A monthly lunch club offering fun and friendship is helping loved ones overcome bereavement.

The Lunch Club was launched 15 months ago at Pendleside Hospice and arranges different venues for each meeting.

As well as going for meals locally members also have outings. Trips pencilled in for the coming months include a day in Liverpool, a visit to a food festival and going to the 1940s weekend in Grassington.

The group now has around 30 members but more are always welcome. Members say they look forward to the meetings as it allows them to ‘switch off’ from their grief for a short time.

Anyone who is bereaved and lives in Burnley and Pendle go come along. They do not need to have used or have any connection to the hospice. Staff from Pendleside Hospice Family Support Team attend the lunches voluntarily, so there is no cost to the hospice.

Anyone interested in hearing about future events can contact Zoe McPherson at on 440102 or email zoe.mcpherson@pendleside.org.uk. She will also help and support following a bereavement.
