Mohsin Ilyas (29), who works for Lancashire County Council, was attacked in a town just outside the capital in what has been described as “a family feud” on Wednesday.

It is understood the former Edge End High School pupil was defending his father when he sustained his injuries.

Mr Ilyas is described on social media as “a lively, outgoing and very friendly individual who promotes peace.”

The family has lived in Nelson for around 40 years and his brother, Ijaz, lives in Bentley Street.

A petition raised through the British High Commission in Pakistan has already received 700 signatures in support of justice for Mr Ilyas.
