Homes evacuated and road closed as firefighters tackle Burnley house blaze

Several homes were evacuated this morning when a blaze broke out in a Burnley house.

Crews are still battling the blaze at the terraced house in Eliza Street, off Todmorden Road, after it broke out just before 8am.

Police have closed Todmorden Road, from the junction of Lyndhurst Road to Helena Street, to traffic while firefighters from Burnley, Nelson and Hyndburn bring the flames under control.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said they did not believe anyone had been injured in the fire at this stage.
