But it was rapidly revealed to be Aladdin and his magic carpet flying in to join fellow cast members of Pendle’s annual pantomime to be shown at The Muni in January next year.

“Aladdin” is a fabulous Middle Eastern folk tale that has weaved its way across the Arabic Peninsula to China and over Pendle Hill and into the Albert Road venue courtesy of George Critchley’s PMA Productions who are back at The Muni for the 18th consecutive year.

It tells the tale of a young, poor boy who lives in Peking with his mother – Widow Twankey – played by comedy genius Keith De’Winter.

Rising new star, Ricardo Castro, takes on the role of Aladdin, who is recruited to find a magic lamp by his evil and mysterious Uncle Abanazar (Jonathan Metcalf) – a sorcerer and generally all-round bad guy.

And former Hollyoaks star, Darren John Langford, who played Spencer Gray in the popular soap, takes on the role of The Emperor of China.

Why not go along and find out what happens when Aladdin meets a beautiful princess (the gorgeous Joanna Hughes); is double-crossed by his uncle; finds himself trapped in the Cave of Wonders and discovers a genie in a lamp (played by Joshua Dowen - Jack in last year’s panto) in this new production for all the family?
